    Favorite Fitness Movements: Snatch, Snatch, and Snatch

    Life Story: I grew up in Phoenix, moved to Nebraska to play football, then moved to Chicago to have some fun. That is where I found CrossFit and my wife. From there we have taken our adventure from Berlin to Nebraska and finally back to Oconomowoc where my wife grew up. Could not be more happy to be a part of the Oconomowoc community.

    What do you want to be when you grow up? I’m still holding on to hope that NASA is going to call me up needing an olympic lifting coach to fly to space and save the world.

    Hi.

    My name is Rusty and I am one of the coaches and owner of Wisconsin Fitness Company. I started WFCo to better connect our amazing community to the world of fitness. I believe we are all happier and more successful when we are surrounded by people who want to see us succeed. That is exactly what we are here for no matter what the goal is. Come work out, have fun, and be happy!

    I have been coaching various forms of fitness for over 10 years and in cities all around the world. I absolutely love seeing someone do something they did not think possible and the confidence that gives them in every part of their life.

    Outside of fitness I have a wonderful and crazy little family. You will probably see my two little ones running around gym dancing and trying to workout with the group while my wife takes pictures and cheers people on. We would love to share our passion with you and your family!

    Favorite Fitness Movements: Hard to choose between Turkish Get-up, Sumo Deadlift High Pull, and DB Snatch, but definitely not Thrusters!

    Life Story: I consider myself a Wisconsin farm kid that became a novice Montana ranch hand, before getting into industrial maintenance, and finally starting my career as an IT Solutions Architect. It was a unique path with many memorable adventures that ultimately led me to a beautiful wife and three kids, two dogs, a cat, a fish, and a flock of chickens! Aside from my time in Montana, the Oconomowoc area has always been home for me.

    What do you want to be when you grow up? Happy, healthy and successful.

    Message from the coach:

    Hi.

    My name is Brad and I’m a Coach here at Wisconsin Fitness Company. Over the course of my fitness journey, I've dabbled in many types of exercise and I may still have a place in my heart for P90X. However, I often found it difficult to make exercise a staple in my day to day, until my wife introduced me to crossfit and the community that embraces functional fitness. Since then, I've met some of my closest friends, I've definitely gotten in better shape, and I've learned that exercise doesn't always have to be hard. No doubt, there are days I feel like the workout leaves me at death's door, but more often it's the variation of movements and the people moving with me that simply make it fun. I also refuse to let my teenage son get stronger or faster than me. ;)

    In years prior, I coached youth sports including football, baseball and basketball teams, as my own kids grew and developed their interests. Those experiences were invaluable in teaching me to translate complex motion into simplistic instruction and queues. Completing my Crossfit L1 and moving on to coach functional fitness has been a seamless and really enjoyable transition. I've also finally found good use for all the hours I spend reading about and watching fitness experts!

    The Snatch, Toes-to-Bar, Muscle Ups, anything gymnasty!  

    Life Story:

    I am a true towny, I was born and raised in Oconomowoc.  I left Oconomowoc for a bit while attending college, but returned as I truly love this community.  My husband and I bought a home in town in 2013.  I am a busy mom of two and a social worker by day.

    What do you want to be when you grow up?

    Jason Bourne… hoping to use the skills I’ve developed through my fitness  journey, climb a rope on a cliff, muscle up over a ledge on a building, burpee my way out of gunfire, basically be able to handle whatever comes my way.

    Message from the coach: 

    Hi!

    My name is Jamie and I’m a Coach here at Wisconsin Fitness Co.  Prior to finding high intensity group training classes, I struggled to maintain a consistent fitness program.  I admit feeling lost at those global gyms, aimlessly wandering trying to figure out what exercise to do next and not having the same motivation I had in competitive athletics.  As a past swimmer, gymnast, and track athlete, I missed the structured conditioning, team support, and coaching offered through sports.  I have fallen in love with the balance of strength and skill as well as the community offered at Wisconsin Fitness Co. 

    I obtained a CFL1 Trainer certificate in 2022 and joined the team at WisCo Fit in July of 2024.  I use my knowledge of gymnastics skills to teach movements such as handstands, kipping pull-ups/toes-to-bar, and muscle ups.  I love the strength programming offered through Wisconsin Fitness Co., specifically Olympic Lifting (Snatch and Clean + Jerk). I enjoy teaching these lifts and stress the importance of good form before lifting heavy.  This allows athletes to focus on their technique, reducing the likelihood of injury and increasing efficiency with their lifts.  I also value a balance of strength and mobility for athletes.  My favorite aspect of coaching is seeing members crush their goals, whether that’s hitting a PR on a lift or gaining a new skill they never thought they would be able to do.
